Workout tank top with a built in bra

Workout tank top

The last piece of my workout wardrobe was a tank top with a built in bra. This pattern is my own design and I won’t lie, I’m pretty chuffed about this top! It’s the same pattern that I used for my yoga top, but this time I used wickaway fabrics and not modal.

The shell is attached to the built in bra using fold-over elastic.

In the back the mesh inserts keeps my back cool. I think this top is the best I own when it comes to keeping the body reasonable cool during a sweaty workout,

Since the top has gathers in the front, it has plenty of room for my tummy and can be worn both pulled down like in this photo or with the waist band raised up to create even more space in the front.

The bra sits really tight and is lined with power net in the front to keep the boobs in place.

I did however accidentally managed to cut a hole in the mesh which was a big bummer since I discovered this when I had pretty much finished the entire top! I’ve mended the hole with some hand stitching and fingers crossed it will keep together, so far so good!

You’ve created the perfect design for a workout top! It’s cool (I don’t mean that as a colloquialism – it that too! but meant specifically as a physical fact 🙂 and flattering – functional. You should be thrilled – I wonder if you can copyright it? 🙂

🙂 Thank you, yes it’s the best feeling when you make something and just feels so right! Over the New Years I did another on as well, and it fits so well and is comfortable too

Wow! I love this and you are such an inspiration!! I’m currently hosting a “Workout Gear” challenge on Sew Much Talent’s (GR) Facebook group for the month of February and was doing research (I never made any workout gear before!) when I came across your videos and blog. Love it and I hope you don’t mind me linking your blog to my post as a reference. Of course, I’m personally following both your blog and YouTube channel now! I am so looking forward to many more of your posts!
