One thing on my sewing bucket list is to make a custom print skirt. In my Pinterest folder, I have collected some of the best ones I’ve seen in RTW so I figured we should take a look some fabulous skirts!
This is a skirt I’ve had in my inspiration folder for a long time – it’s from Anthropologie and I love the naïve art inspired print.
Another skirt that is almost like a painting, such wonderful depth of colours. This one is from Gucci and it looks almost hand painted!
This skirt from Jonathan Saunders reminds me a little bit of Matisse’s cut-out art. This is a skirt that could work in any setting, a stand-out design without being too elaborate.
This printed skirt from Alice Temperley is probably the design I would have the easiest to use as a starting point for my own design. It is simple, but still very effective I think!
Peter Pilotto does fantastic prints, and this skirt is no exception. This would be my dream skirt to wear. Unfortunately, my artistic skills are limited and I would never be able to do something similar!
This Alice + Olivia print would be perfect for summer, I’m very fond of the brush stroke designs. I would love to do something similar one day, using similar colours on white cotton.
I love the idea of wearing skirts that are like a piece of art, and now that getting small runs of custom print fabrics have gotten easier, maybe 2018 would the year when I finally put this dream into reality!
