Imagine peace

[This is primarily a sewing blog, but today I feel I have to share my feelings about what is currently going on, as it feels weird to talk about sewing as if nothing else happens in the world]

We live in very unsettling times where human lives are sacrificed in the name of various ideologies. To me a lot of what we see now, the horrors in Syria, the plight of the refugees entering Europe, the right wing extremists movements and the terror attacks, could have been if not prevented completely, at least lessened if countries had been willing to see beyond their own interests and beliefs and instead worked together for peace and solidarity. The unwillingness to do so and looking the other way is a huge reason why we now find ourselves in this situation I think. And I feel guilty of this myself, it is so easy to just see my own first world problems and not understanding how they all pale in comparison to the suffering that so many people in the world has to endure. There are no easy solutions, but I just hope we can turn all this hate around and stop pitching groups against each other. What we need now is compassion, peace and solidarity.

As a woman from a Müslim country (Turkey) I am very touched when people from EU countries can see the other side's point of view as well. I wish people here also can have a broader view of the world and stop blaming EU or USA for every terror action that takes place. As for "peace" , I think we can only imagine it for now.

Thank you so much for sharing your point of view. It means so much having conversations like this to help understanding each others point of view and I hope that the summit held in your country will be the start of a sustainable and well thought out plan to stabilize the situation in the Middle East. Because we can no longer close our eyes and just hope it will go away.
