Pleated skirt with elastic waist

Been a bit of an absent blogger this week. The reason is that I’ve been busy excersising, prepping for a 5K race tomorrow. And clearly I am not able to concentrate on both excerising and blogging simultaneously! When I get bitten by something I tend to go all in, and letting other things slide.
Anyways I sewed a skirt earlier this week. The inspiration is the full skirts with elastic waist that is currently sold in every Swedish high street store.  I’m normally drawn to more sleek silhouettes, but was curious to go outside my regular taste. Also I recently bought a ruffler/pleater and wanted to try it out. The pattern is totally freestyle and I will post a tutorial later on. All in all I’m happy with the result, but if I do it again I might reduce the fullness a bit. The fabric is linen, very soft with good drape. I bought it a fabric fair that I visited with my Etsy mate Kaja a few months back. I had originally planned to make a regular a-line skirt, but I’m happy that I decided to try something else. As I said I will show how it was done in a separate post. You don’t need much in terms of pattern to make this skirt, and it is quick to make.

I think you have styled this skirt perfectly. I mean, I even want one and I'm not nearly your shape or height. So hurry up with that tutorial.

Being focused is not bad. It will definitely help you achieve your goals. Just don't leave the people you love behind. IOW be sure to take time to smell the daiseys

Yes since my spare time is limited it is clear that I can't juggle many things at the same time! But it has been good taking a little sewing/bloggin hiatus, for the reasons that you mentioned. Plus the weather is fantastic so I've spent much more time outside lately

You look so perfectly ready for spring! Is it warm enough in Sweden to enjoy this ensemble outdoors as is? I sewed an elastic-waist skirt yesterday, too! Mine was a refashion… will prob. blog it later this week. I like how your elastic waist looks a whole lot less bulky than the standard elastic waist does.
