What I’m working on: Burdastyle button front skirt

- Patterns, work in progress
Burdastyle godet skirt

So it’s finally time for the last garment of my Sewing for Sicily project. In the video I asked for opinions on whether I should do a skirt or a a pair of sailor trousers and it turned out to be a tight race! 58% voted for the skirt and 42% said do the sailor pants. In the end, time became the determinering factor for me. I need to start this project today and hopefully finish it tomorrow, and the skirt will be a quicker make than the sailor trousers. So a skirt it is! (but I will definitely do the sailor pants one day too).

The pattern is from Burdastyle issue 05/2012 and I will add a visible button front on the skirt using some vintage buttons that has been lying around like forever, so that feels great to finally be able to put them to use.

As for how my Sewing for Sicily project has gone so far, you can see a preview of the shorts on my Instagram here and the blouse here. The shorts turned out excellent and the blouse looks nice but has some fitting issues, though I think I can live with them. Once I get back from my trip I will of course blog about all those makes. Now I’m gonna crawl back into the sewing cave!
