Video: Making new workout clothes – my fall sewing plans

It’s time to make more activewear! In this video I talk about my four planned projects and how I will actually do some batch sewing this time (something I normally never do). The lure is not having to re-thread the machines a million times, plus I get to really practise specific techniques, something I feel I really need to do in order to improve my skills.

Also I will brave the tape binder attachment for my Janome Coverstitch again and I will not give up until I’ve achieved a satisfactory result. Luckily I have picked the brain of a very knowledgeable person on this subject, plus I’ve soaked up a lot of tricks in various Facebook groups. Once I’ve given them all a proper try I will report back on which ones that works. Wish me luck!

This will be a educational journey for us all Johanna – I really look forward to watching you work your way through the binder attachment to your Janome coverstitch machine!

I will report back for sure, once I feel I tried enough stuff I will make a blog post about my findings!

Every time I apply FOE, my fabric stretches out. Even when I purposefully put zero tension on the fabric (no pulling). What am I doing wrong? Any ideas?
    I love your videos!!

FOE should always be shorter than the fabric, unless the fabric has a lot of negative ease already IMHO. I’ve tried a bunch of techniques and the combo of notches/markings and hand basting the FOE on the the garment before topstitching has by far yielded the best result for me. You can see my blog post on how I do this http://www.thelaststitch.com/2016/02/sew-fold-over-elastic/
