Next up: Burdastyle swing shorts

The sewing for Sicily project has begun! First up is a pair of shorts from Burdastyle’s June issue. These can be called my remedy shorts, because some years ago I made a pair of shorts using African wax print that fell off a boat. That was heartbreaking to say the least.

Anyways I had planned to remake the same pattern using this African print. Then I saw Burdastyle’s preview of these swing shorts and thought “wow, those are perfect”. So that’s what I’m going for!

By the way, if you are looking for some wax print inspiration, check out Julius Holland’s site. Both this fabric and the one I used for the old shorts are from that company and I can highly recommend their fabrics. They can a be bit stiff before washing, but afterwards they are like regular cotton mid weight cotton fabrics, neither super soft nor stiff and the prints are absolutely beautiful and very unique.
