Video: My Ikea hack cutting room corner

Want to see a tour of my new cutting room corner complete with a Ikea cutting table and also the space where I also store all my fabrics, patterns and me-made dresses?  Well this video is all about that. Fun fact is that my corner is actually part of my 15-year old daughter’s room, so the fabric covered wall is there to separate the two areas. I’ve talked about it before, but we live fairly small so having two (!) sewing spaces in a small two bedroom apartment is a real luxury, even though both spaces are only corners in other rooms. My sewing area is in the living room BTW (see video below).

Love your cutting table Johanna! So useful with all those drawers and shelving underneath and the fact it’s on wheels is the best. Mine only has one drawer that is of course full to overflowing and I store things underneath it but it’s a bit of a jumbled mess I’m afraid. Sewing areas can SO easily just get out of hand – it dismays me constantly to see how it has grown alarmingly out of bounds. I’m on a FABRIC diet for sure. It’s silly how much fabric I have accumulated and patterns! Yikes that’s out of hand as well and I just ordered 2 more yesterday (Named patterns) and one today from Cashmerette (her new release shirt dress). I think you’ve done an amazing job with this cutting table honestly. You are such a talented woman!

Thank you! And oh yes to those ever growing sewing spaces! And those moments when it feels like we have it ordered and under control are so fleeting… It’s just a lifetime struggle I think, but having some kind of order makes sewing easier and more inspiring I think. I have ordered two Named patterns as well, pdf:s but still…they will have to be printed out some day 😀
