Video: Sewing goals 2018

So let’s take a look at my sewing bucket list for 2018. I have picked five goals – some are smallish and some are pretty big! I began doing public sewing goals in 2016.

And in 2017 I did my first video sharing my sewing goals and I’m happy to report that I managed to achieve 4 out 5 goals during 2017 (the biggest was writing my book about sewing activewear).

Back to a Sunday Schedule!

Now with the holidays over I’m switching back to my regular Sunday video schedule, so technically there will be two videos this week. And a new livestream is in the works too, so stay tuned for more info on that!

Do you like to set sewing goals? And do you stick to them? I’d love to hear your thoughts on goal settings!

I recently returned to sewing on retiring from teaching and fostering. At last I have time and space to develop my skills and can’t wait to start. I welcome the idea of a ‘sewing plan’, as random sewing, for me at least, too easily results in random garments that just don’t fit in with the rest of my wardrobe. How much better to approach my sewing – garments as well as skills – in a planned and well-thought out manner. Thank you for this excellent idea!
Ps. As a Swede resident in UK for over 50 years, I’m thrilled to follow your work online. A welcome touch of Sweden.

Good luck with your 5 goals! I think it’s great that you have a variety — some to share knowledge, some to challenge your sewing skills, and some to pair with your fitness goals. My work is too full this year for sewing goals too, but maybe my goals is and has been to finish my halfies so I can wear them! And to really refine the fit of m copycat trousers. I have tried a few methods to copy a pair of trousers I got in 1998, which my mother and my boyfriend, and I, all agree fit me super well. My 2nd attempt was only so so, but I’m trying to tweak the bum (of the pattern, not my literal bum, no chance for changes…) and am ready to cut another muslin of the back. The front is looking pretty good. I aim for a pair of flat front trousers that I can just cut out and stitch together with confidence. I have wanted that for several years, and have a few pieces of fabric ready to be used! So I have progress, but no deadline which would be too many deadlines in all areas of my life right now. Good luick for 2018! If you’re in danger of injury, be sure to treat yourself to a nice massage. :-).

Nailing the trouser fit is a great goal, and one that indeed can keep us occupied for a long time 🙂 But it can be kinda fun too, tweaking and experimenting, trouser construction is great brain training I think! And having a well fitting pair to base the pattern off is super helpful for sure And thank you for your well wishes! I did treat myself to a massage last week and will do it as a regular occurance until the race!
