New video, all about my summer sewing projects, which included both some highs and some lows. I was a bit bogged down by the latter, but I try to remind myself it is part of the sewing journey, that not everything goes to plan, despite our best effort!

I remember seeing the pants when you posted on instagram. Will you ever sew with light weight linen ever again? Linen trousers, you need to use a heavier weighted linen. Light weight linen is great for tops, shirts/shirt dresses. Pants always take such a beating with wear. Btw, the book you mention, i have it and its such a great resource for sewing techniques that yield professional results. I will be ordering your coverstitch book as soon as I purchase my stand alone cover stitch machine. I decided to go with juki.

I am currently working on perfecting a simple trouser pattern to use with moderate stretch fabrics. I have decided to go with no ease in the hips so that the fabric will provide the “give”. I will also adapt the pattern for wowens. It such hard work drafting a pattern and getting it to fit properly for different types of fabric.

Its time to think to think fall winter clothing.

Yes I will not give uo on linen, and I might as you say go for a heavier fabric next time. And thank you for planning to order my coverstitch book! And I agree about the challenges of a master pants pattern, and often times the shape can change after a few days of wear too, which makes it even harder to predict!

I love that you share the good and the bad! I always learn something important with both.

I love your skirts and they remind me of a skirt I had and LOVED. We could not afford much and it was expensive (before I sewed) but I spilled nail polish on it and was devastated. I think the linen is old. I bought some rayon and the exact same thing in the exact same spot happened. I too felt the fabric was a bit off but it’s the same time to make the pants. I did patch as I thought I can just wear them at home but it just tore in the spots next to the strengthened area. Such a shame as they look so good on you.
