For a perfectly fitting elastic waistband that won't roll – use these 5 simple tips 👍 1. Ideally the elastic should have the same width as the waistband. If the elastic sits snuggly inside the waistband, it's less likely to roll. You can always reduce the waistband width to fit the elastic. 2. For inserting, either leave an opening in the waistband seam or don't sew the entire waistband seam. Using the waistband option makes adjusting the elastic easier later on. 3. Use a safety pin to insert the elastic. It's also useful when adjusting the elastic before trimming. Don't trim the elastic until you tried the garment on the body. 4. Fit the garment on the body and adjust the length of the elastic. Use the safety pin during fitting. The elastic should sit firmly on the body without digging in. 5. Stitch down the elastic to prevent rolling. This is optional but will ensure that the elastic doesn’t fold or twist during wearing and washing. These simple tips will make a big difference, promise!

Stripes never get old, right? I made a new #gurlitop for fall using a super soft rayon/silk jersey knit. Gurli is my own sewing pattern, and it comes in a long sleeve version as well. I've lost count on how many Gurli tops I've made for myself, maybe 10? 😄 But that's the great thing about creating sewing patterns, I can make them exactly how I want them!
