Why, oh why, must the European pattern magazines suddenly serve up styles like this when I have absolutely no time to sew for myself?

If you like stylish short coats you have to check out the fall Patrones Joven issue. There are about 8 styles and pretty much all of them looks fantastic. See Melissa’s review for more images from this awesome issue.

November 6, 2009 at 11:17 pmThat white coat is really a beaut. Does it have a back yoke? the tiny back drawing is hard to make out. In a winter white wool, with the patch pockets changed to vertical welt inseam ones, it would make a terrific trench-meets-pea coat.
On your tissue-thin sleeve fabric, why don't you send the pic to Linda of EOS, and Ann of Gorgeous Fabrics? If anyone, they might be able to steer you in the right direction.

November 7, 2009 at 1:29 amEmmaonesock has an 11 oz jersey that is the most wonderful jersey ever. Close to tissue (true tissue weight would require lining that beautiful dress-no no) and I own it in almost every color and the metallics she sells as well. I cannot say enough good things about it- and I am really not a "knit" gal……..
Great coat also!

>>JoanneM: Thank you for the info. I have not tried her 11 oz jersey, sounds very promising, and there are a lot of colors to chose from

November 7, 2009 at 2:35 pmOh, what a beautiful dress! Do you think you could drape something like that for yourself as a one-off? (I say that with the intent of saving time, then think maybe it would take me longer than using the pattern.)

November 8, 2009 at 10:51 pmI cant buy Patrones books in Australia. This is disappointing as their patterns seem to be very innovative.

November 9, 2009 at 6:05 pmI think I lost my La Mia Boutique source 🙁 That dress is pretty fabulous.
For the tissue thin, I'm not sure. But, I was looking at Spandex House this morning and they have a super thin and light knit. Here's the link. http://spandexhouse.com/products.asp?id=115&pname=Nylon%20Tricot
