The reward dress

Yes I will soon do something from a pattern envelope again. I will call this project my reward dress. I seldom do dresses with an open back since I have suffered from pretty annoying bacne since I was a teenager. I’ve tried many prescription and non-prescription treatments over the years with dismal results – the only thing that has been truly effective is being pregnant, but I can’t do that all the time!

Anyways I was recently directed towards glycolic acids, and to my surprise they have turned out to be quite effective. No miracle cure, but I’m on my fourth week now and by the look of it my skin will be in visibly better condition sometime in May. Though some scars will remain, but I’m okay with that.

The drawback is that this treatment requries constant applying, the effect is far from permanent. And I have to be extra careful with the sun. But the good thing is that I will feel way more comfortable with the thought of wearing backless styles. So in order to keep going with the regimen I’ve decided to give myself a little reward to look forward to. To wear on hot summer days – with a generous dose of SPF of course!

I really like some of Simplicity’s Cynthia Rowley patterns and the style I’m going for is D most likely. But the more I look at view A the more appealing it looks. I dunno, maybe I should get out of my comfort zone and try something different.

I think this dress is really cute – bit too young for me though. Re the bacme, salt water swimming might help.

Yes I've noticed that salt water combined with sun exposure makes it better. When I've been to seaside resorts abroad my skin always gets better. To bad I spend 99% of my time in cold Sweden, and we don't have salt water pools in my hometown either 🙁

lush makes this body lotion called dream cream and it has helped a lot of people with skin issues, even ecxema or psoriasis… it has a lot of calming qualities but it's light enough not to clog your pores. i even use it as a moisturizer on my face and i don't break out as badly anymore! it's not a real solution but it really calms your skin down when it's irritated or slightly inflamed…

Hi! I've been enjoying your blog for awhile (sorry that my first comment is on bacne!) I've had the same problem and this is going to sound crazy, but I've found that cutting back on showers has helped a ton! I think my skin would get really dry in the shower and then overproduce oil. I still wash armpits, etc. daily, but not blasting my back with hot water daily has really helped my skin. Love the dress design!

I had this envelope in my hand last week. So pretty! I almost picked this one!
Chocolat is what triggers my bacne. Such a pain.

If you can't download this pattern I'd be happy to send it to you from the States. Love your collection!

Love your blog! I have one more suggestion. It's a little weird but it helped me a ton. I tried everything to get rid of Bacne, but the only thing that worked was a clean pillow case every day, and change the sheets every week. It works!

The only thing that's helped my acne are pharmaceuticals. My skin is just very oily. Differin and an antibiotic wash keep my skin clear now, most of the time. I hope you can wear the new dress soon!

Summer, I've tried the differin and antibiotic combo for several months and it didn't work for me unfortunately. Prescription wise, only Accutane remains and I'm weary of the side effects
