Our summer escape

Yesterday we finalised our travel plans for the summer. We are heading to Croatia, or Dubrovnik to be more specific. Looking at the photos it’s almost hard to believe that the city still looks so ancient today. Travel for me means escapism from the daily grinds, I like to divulge into fantasy living when I’m abroad, and with such a dreamy setting it will surly be fantastic. I have never been to Croatia before and if any of guys has been there I would love to hear suggestions on worthwhile visits. We will be away for two weeks so there will be plenty of time for excursions.

Can't help you much with Croatia. But give me a call if you need info about Slovenia. Hubby has relatives down there, so I we have seen most of the standard tourist sights and a few others in that country.

I have been to Kurcula! Beautiful! You should visit it! I was there last year in July… Weather was great! Excellent food! Nature is beautiful!

I spent 2 weeks in Croatia quite some years ago, week 1 sailing around the islands and week 2 in Split and then Dubrovnik. I LOVED it!

Try to take some island excursions from Dubrovnik – I forget the name of it, but there is one island that has a lake on it, with another island in the lake, and an old monastery (I think) on the "inner island". I seem to remember that you could rent bikes there too.

And around the city walls of Dubrovnik (on the sea side) you can find tiny bars where you can sit on the rocks, take a swim, and drink a cool beer.

    Oh I'm jealous now.

Thank you for the recommendations! And Kaja I'm sure I'll end up in Slovenia too some day. I would love to be able to check off every European country!
