Now it’s time to sew and attach the sleeve cuffs to the Tyri Tie-Neck Blouse. The cuffs are sewn into loops first, then attached to the gathered sleeve hems (See the post about sewing the sleeves for instructions on gathering the hem).
Sew the cuffs
The cuff pieces are first pressed lengthwise, then sewn together into a loop using your regular sewing machine.

Fold the cuff pieces lengthwise with the wrong sides facing and press from the right side using low heat. Remember to use a pressing cloth to protect the fabric. It’s easier to press the fold before joining the sides to form the loop.

Fold the cuffs in half with right sides facing and stitch into a loop using a narrow zigzag stitch.
Tip: If the fabric gets pulled down into the feed dogs near the edge, place a fabric scrap underneath the presser foot at the beginning and end of the seam (as shown in the photo)

Open the seam allowance and press flat. I recommend using a sleeve ironing board (Amazon affiliate link) for this step, so that you won’t get any creases. Then, fold the cuffs lengthwise again with the wrong sides facing and press again if needed.
Attach the cuffs

Mark the cuff mid-point with a pin, so that you can align it with the sleeve mid-point.

Place the cuffs over the gathered sleeve hem with right sides facing. Align the cuff seam with the sleeve seam and match the mid-point notches on both the cuff and sleeve.

Sewing on the cuffs on a serger can be a bit fiddly, so I recommend basting the cuff in place to prevent the fabric from shifting during sewing.

With the cuff facing towards you, stitch along the edge to attach the cuff. Make sure the gathers do not shift forward while sewing. Repeat on the other sleeve. Tip: It’s often easier to attach the cuff if it is sewn from the inside, with the sleeve outwards. The cuff should still be facing up towards you.

Remove the gathering threads after sewing. If you don’t, the area will be rigid, and you want that stretch!

Press the seam allowance towards the sleeve from the wrong side without flattening the gathers.
Now there is only one step left of the Tyri Sew-Along, the hem. Well done, you are doing great!
