Life of Johanna / My sewing books

Exciting New Things Coming Soon

I´ve been a busy bee lately, working hard in my new studio on several big projects, so I wanted to give you a little sneak peek of the things that you can expect to see in the upcoming months.

New pattern release in November

I´m finally releasing a new garment pattern later this fall. I started working on this pattern last year, but since it’s somewhat seasonal I decided to not launch the pattern until the timing was right.

I´ve also extended the size range, so the new pattern will be available in sizes 32-56 (US 2-26). I can’t wait to show you what it is! In the meantime, I can give you a little hint, it´s very much a “Johanna” thing and something I wear versions of pretty much every day, all year round.

Working on a new book!

Most of my time recently has been spent working on the first chapter of a new sewing book (my 4th!). This time it’s a collaboration, so we are bringing in our respective expertise and the plan is to create something super awesome and comprehensive, covering a topic that is very underserved when it comes to sewing books. And by the look of it, this will be a very thick book!

If everything goes according to plan, we will hopefully be able to go official about our book project in the upcoming months. Just like with my previous books, we want to take all of you along with us on this bookmaking journey, asking for suggestions and feedback on the content so that we can truly serve the sewing community in the best manner possible.

Doing my first video sewing course

Yes, I´ve kept myself busy lately, which includes filming instructions for my first video sewing course. This one will be about a very specific topic that also aligns with one of my books.

While the topic is somewhat narrow in scope, it’s gonna be super detailed with lots of tips and very helpful before and afters, which is something many of you have asked about in the comments on my YouTube channel.

Meaning that you don’t just want to see “perfect” stitching, but also have clear examples of how it shouldn’t look like´, and of course how to fix it.

I´ve had several revelations myself too doing all these experiments, figuring out the best methods for every situation, and I´m very excited to share all those with you!

Since my plate is super full right now, I might not be able to release this course until the beginning of next year, but I do plan to set up a pre-order thingie before that so that you can get a taste of what´s the course is about.

So now you know a bit more about what I’m working on behind the scenes. Since I’m still mostly a one-person show and also have very high goals when it comes to the quality of everything I put out, sometimes do I feel like everything takes forever.

But I want to create work that is truly helpful and that will stand the test of time. Which for me means working deep rather than upping the quantity game. So I just have to be patient with myself!

Intriguing! I will stay tuned. I do hope cardigans are on your to-write book list, just watched your video on your cardigan collection and this is what I need as I move from structured suit jackets in the business world to a more comfortable approach to dressing professionally. I’m back in the office and I just can’t bear suit jackets any more.
